Top 10 Ibiza Summer Tracks 2015

As we reach the mid-season stage of the Ibiza Clubbing season, unlike other years, its been slim pickings on the island this summer for stand out tunes. One thing I have noticed is the prevalence of old tunes and classic tracks in DJ sets, which is a little worrying, as Ibiza has always led the way with new and fresh summer sounds. Is there a trend this year? I don't think so....the island is in a state of flux at present. With so many tech parties, that scene is not as strong this summer, with no stand out tunes flying the flag for the genre. I am happy to report that House is making a comeback and its fusing into tech and EDM, (also in rude health) with all the four leading music genres on the island, Tech, House, EDM and Base, floating around in DJ sets, but Tech is still leading the way. House is doing well and Base is still there adding flavor to the scene, thanks to tracks like Gosh from Jamie XX. Live music is also in good health and thankfully, there is lots going on in that scene. There is a feeling that something new is bubbling away under the surface, but I cant just put my finger on it. Maybe by the end of the season, it will have emerged. But for now i'm going to list the Top 10 Tracks at the halfway stage of the season in Ibiza that reflects what I think is the soundtrack for Ibiza 2015 so far. There is still plenty of time for a "Big Tune" to define the season to emerge. I will deal with the most popular and trending parties and state of play at the Clubs in a separate Blog. Below in no particular order is my Top Ten Ibiza Summer Tracks at the half way stage of season 2015.

Acamar - Frankey & Sandrino
We spotted this one at the start of the season as one to follow and its still doing well for itself on the island. One of those slow burners that grows on you and heard at lots of after hour parties and villas with its trippy synth line.

Guy Matzur & Roy Rosenfeld - Epika
Real Ibiza vibe to this track which is being played by nearly every DJ with a USB stick on a key-ring. Up there as one of the most popular tunes so far and been rinsed on the island this summer.

Kollektiv Turmstrasse - Sorry I Am Late
Receiving support from Solomun among others, this track has been making its presence felt thanks to its Ibiza friendly, Ten Walls sounding hook,

Jamie XX  - Gosh Jap Ligthart remix
There was always going to be a remix of the excellent Jamie XX original, GOSH, which has proved popular with the British crowd in Ibiza this summer. Retaining much of the tracks essence, The Jap Ligthart remix is fitting into most DJ sets the best and hence, being played the most. This track is right up there this year and close to being a summer anthem if the mood swings its way. There is also a Tale Of Us unreleased remix worth checking out.

Gregory Porter - Liquid Spirit.
Receiving support from the likes of Defected, Glitterbox, Bob Sinclair, and Martin Solveig this classic sounding House Tune is last season's Pushing On.

Martin Solveig - Intoxicated.
Probably the #1 EDM tune doing the rounds this season and looking like it will be a summer anthem too. Being played everywhere, its got summer holidays written all over it and a mainstay at Pacha and Cafe Mambo pre-parties.

Elderbrook - How Many Times (Andhim Remix)
Crossing over and appealing to a mainstream audience, this track is been used as a bridge between EDM and Underground at places like Ushuaia and Space. Its been around for a while but gaining in popularity with Holidaymakers and one of the big Shazam tunes in Ibiza this year.

Jean Claude Ades & Betoko - Smiling At Me.
Nice beat to this tech house track from Ibiza based record label Be Crazy. Getting lots of support from a wide range of DJ's on the island this summer and sure to be right up there as one of the top tracks this year.

Traumer - Hoodlum
Heavy Ibiza baseline to this track which continues to be trashed in most Ibiza DJ sets looking to go deep and dark. Enough said

DJ Koze - XTC.
Debated whether or not to put this one in, but as it was Sam Feltd's Show Me Love (like the producer not a fan of  the rework) that I was kicking out, it wasn't too hard a decision to make. I like the dark and dreamy edges to this track and its got a classic Ibiza baseline going on in the background. Its one of those tracks that when dropped at the Ket time, can really impact a floor.

Tiger Stripes - Brrr
Im a big fan of Adam Beyer and he has been pushing this track a lot in Ibzia this summer. This one comes from the new Tiger Stripes EP and is flavored with catchy vocals and chunky drums. Nice beat and energy with a real Ibiza feel to it. Thumbs up from me!
