D-Day For Booom Ibiza.

Today is the day, that an Ibiza court will hear, if the tenant trading as Booom nightclub, can be evicted from its current premises. The landlord of the building, Nung River SL, is asking the court to evict the incumbent tenant, Booom Nightclub, for non payment of rent. Booom has been living on borrowed time, ever since a court ruled on November 28th last, that its case to stay in the building, had no merits in law. It's very unlikely that this view will change at today's hearing. If the court rules in favor of the Landlord,  it will bring to an end a messy affair, that did nobody any good. If granted, the eviction order will allow Nung River to hand over vacant possession of the building to its new owner, who is rumored to be a wealthy billionaire and ex-associate of Mr Cipriani. In recent years the two businessmen have failed to see eye to eye and reportedly, there is no love lost between them. The new incoming owner, has ambitious plans to develop the building into an entertainment venue, similar to the Pacha owned, Lio, concept.

If Booom fails in its bid to stay in the building, the project promoted by Italian restaurateur, Giuseppe Cipriani, faces a very uncertain future. At this late stage, it is unlikely that Booom can relocate to another venue and with Danny Whittle no longer associated with the Club, it will find it difficult to attract relevant music acts in its current guise. Mr Cipriani's new project will not be ready until 2015, so we could very well be witnessing, the sad demise of an Ibiza Club. However, Mr Cipriani is well know for his resourcefulness and tenacity, so he may still have a trick or two up his sleeve. The main anchor parties at Booom, Defected and Luciano's, Cadenza Vagabundos, are rumoured to be already seeking alternative accommodation. Its unclear if Luciano will hold any residency in Ibiza this year, with only Cocoon, We Love and a number of guest appearances being mentioned in dispatches. Defected are hotly tipped to join Gatecrasher at Eden on Saturday nights. The court is expected to deliver its verdict on the eviction order late next week.
