Dirtybird Records Party@Sankeys Ibiza Review.

Rocking the Dirtybird Opening.
Our clubbing plans to go to Cream at Amnesia changed at the last minute and we opted for a night at Claude Von Stroke's Dirtybird opening party at Sankeys in Playa d'en bossa. A decision we didn't regret. Entering the club the first thing that hits you is the bass reverberating through the floor up and around you, the heat coming off the already fired up crowd like a party at Hells Gate. I'm told by the sound guy that fitted the sound system (who we met on another night) that the underneath of the floor space is hollow, hence the sound and vibration of the club. The club itself has low strips of lighting on the ceiling reminding me of the opening club scene from the vampire movie 'Blade'.

We take to the outdoor roof terrace for a quick drink and chat and notice a cinema 'chill out' room where their showing classic club movies like '24 hr party people' and 'Human Traffic'. After a brief chill and chat on the sofa to fellow clubbers we hit the dance floor. Tonight's party is all things electronic & heavy bass from the San Francisco Dirty bird label; Catz ' n Dogz provided a quality, uplifting set dropping their classic 'They Frontin'. Behind I see the looming beard wearing presence of head honcho 'Vonstroke' who is smiling throughout his protégé’s set and so are the crowd. Next up Justin Martin takes us up and down with new and old bass driven house- dropping new- classic - summer tune in the making 'Breach – Jack' the crowd including me approve. To my surprise he throws in a few older numbers like the 00's garage puncher 'Azzido da bass- Dooms night' followed by the quirky-jerky 'Mr Ozio- Flat beat'.

A regular feature DJ to the night's summer's calendar ( definitely one to watch ). Up next the big man Claude takes to the decks delivering a solid house based set with his trademark wonky sound, much to the crowds approval. It may have been an opening party but we get no dancers or pyrotechnics just straight up DJ’s, passing the respect baton on to each other and delivering the goods. One punter sums it up when I ask what she thinks of the night “I love this club and night, unlike the bigger party's on the island ,this isn't pretentious!” And she was so right, if you're a underground fan who's looking for no frills, good music warehouse style in the heart of Bossa then this is the place for you.
