A Court in Ibiza, yesterday formally charged Paulo Cesar Baptista, with the involuntary manslaughter of Abel Urena at Ushuaia Beach Hotel, Playa Den Bossa Ibiza, on August 19th last. Judge Santagio Pinsach accepted the prosecutions request to detain Baptista in prison until a hearing planned for January 4th 2012. Baptista choose not to speak at the hearing and was not accompanied by senior legal counsel. Involuntary Manslaughter is one step down from a murder charge and states that while there was intent to kill there were mitigating circumstances. Provocation may be the main issue involved. Baptista showed no remorse during his appearance under heavy guard and reportedly goaded the media while in court. Baptistas antagonistic behaviour was not witnessed by any of Abel Urena's friends and support group who decided not to attend the hearing.
